Opening an Application’s Preferences Window
One of the niceties of OS X is that the preferences for every application are kept in the same place.
To access an applications preferences, simply launch the application and choose the application’s title menu from the menu bar. An example of this is shown below.
Having done this, simply choose “Preferences…” from the menu to open the preferences window.

Remember, this process is the same for every application in OS X. This makes it easy to change a program’s settings if you wish.
Some applications may not have a Preferences menu item as shown above. This is generally because the program is so simple it doesn’t need a preferences system. Alternatively, it may be one of the very few, poorly written, Mac OS X applications that keeps its preferences in a non-standard location.
